St Aidan’s land

The site of a former church is being renovated to provide a community space. We asked if we could use a part of it to grow veg.  We built compost bins, laid vast amounts of cardboard and raked in 6m3 of fresh mushroom compost to create two huge 8mx2m veg beds.

Potatoes are planted filling one bed and the other is waiting on seedlings.

We planted out a ton of lettuce, and were rewarded a few weeks later with our first ever delivery of a tray of 10 lettuce to Cheltenham Open door.

We have since delivered another three trays of lettuce and are hoping to keep that crop going until late Autumn.

Potatoes are being delivered from the start of August.

We are thrilled with how well this small site has performed.
